House commends Bello’s pro-worker programs

A resolution has been filed in the House of Representatives expressing the sense of Congress in support of Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III.

About 90 congressmen signed House Resolution 2479 commending Bello for his able leadership of the labor department, and in overseeing pro-worker programs of the government.

“Under Secretary Bello’s leadership, DOLE programs and projects are felt by the Filipino workers in the country and overseas,” read the resolution filed just as Congress went on recess last week.

The commendation lauded Bello’s priority programs of the labor department, such as the end of contractualization (endo) in favor of regularization; creation of One Stop Shops (OTS) to cut bureaucratic red tape and simplify procedures for Filipino workers, and the protection and promotion of the welfare of overseas Filipino workers.

The House resolution also recognized Bello's efforts in implementing Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD); Government Internship Program (GIP); DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program; Kasambahay Program; Adjustment Measures Program; and DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).

It also cited Bello’s lead in implementing employment programs supportive of the youth sector, such as Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), Jobstart Philippines Program, and the Public Employment Service (PES); the employment facilitation efforts through job fairs; the enforcement of labor standards and occupational safety and health through the Labor Laws Compliance System, and the implementation of the Family Welfare Program.

The resolution was introduced by Deputy Speaker Mylene J. Garcia-Albano and Randolph S. Ting, and Representatives Rodolfo T. Albano III, Arnel U. Ty, and Aniceto Bertiz III.
